Who We Are

We are very pleased to introduce you to the Grand Little Big Band. We are a multi-generational band comprised of students with just two years of experience playing their instruments, as well as musicians who have been playing for a long, long time! Currently our youngest member is 11 and oldest is 80 years old! Our more experienced musicians mentor the younger ones, and together they learn, perform, and enjoy the iconic music of the 40s era (with a few surprises mixed in). Any musician with two or more years of experience with their instrument is welcome to audition for the band!

Our director, Gordon Neville, retired from Grand Rapids Public Schools music program in 2013 and is currently teaching part time at Algoma Christian School. He has also played in the 126 Army Band for a number of years.

The Grand Little Big Band introduces young musicians to the music that has made America great: big band, swing, jazz, and blues. We share the joy of playing this iconic music with our community, enriching our own lives and the lives of our audiences.

The Grand Little Big Band is a 501(c)(3) non-profit for music education.
